Welcome to schreibly

schreibly is a real-time grammar, spelling and style checker for English and German. It runs in your browser, your editor of choice and (soon) your desktop, with a single account and a single understanding of how you write.

We started schreibly because the writing tools we used either pretended only one language existed, or treated the second one like a museum piece. If you switch between English and German during the same afternoon — for work emails, customer replies, marketing copy or a thesis — you know how jarring that is.

What's live today

The first phase covers the foundations: a fast checking endpoint, accounts, and the groundwork for organisations and admin tooling. The browser extension and dashboard plug into the same backend, so anything we improve on the server lands everywhere at once.

What's next

A desktop app for Mac and Windows is in early planning. Beyond that, our own model for the variants we care about most — en-GB, en-US, de-DE, de-AT, de-CH — without sending text to a third party at all. That's the long road, and we'll write about it here as we walk it.
